About Acorns & Oaks Christian Academy
Our Mission: Rooted in Christ. Growing in Wisdom. Serving with Joy.
A Ministry and Mission of Christ Lutheran Church and Perry Lutheran Homes in Perry, IA
Strong Ministry Support
Acorns & Oaks Christian Academy exists because we believe something powerful happens when generations grow together. As a joint ministry of Christ Lutheran Church and Perry Lutheran Homes, we provide Christ-centered childcare and early learning in an intergenerational environment where children are loved not only by teachers and staff, but also by the “grandmas and grandpas” who are part of daily life on campus.
Our Story
Acorns & Oaks was created out of a shared calling: to serve families, strengthen faith, and bless both the youngest and the oldest in our community. By bringing childcare and early learning on-site at Perry Lutheran Homes, children experience a setting that naturally reinforces respect, empathy, and belonging—while older adults experience the joy and purpose that comes from being part of children’s everyday lives.
Faith-Filled Mission
At Acorns & Oaks, faith is not an add-on—it shapes who we are and how we care for children. We partner with families to nurture hearts and minds through daily encouragement, prayerful care, and learning experiences that help children grow in character, confidence, and compassion. Children and families of all walks of life and faith are welcome at Acorns & Oaks!
Intergenerational
Intergenerational programs—when intentionally planned—have been shown to support children’s social development and attitudes toward older adults, and to provide meaningful connection and engagement for older adults. At Acorns & Oaks, these relationships are woven into the culture, creating a “family” atmosphere. Being on the Perry Lutheran Homes campus gives children access to safe, welcoming spaces and caring adults across generations.
Your Child is Known & Loved
Acorns & Oaks is intentionally small, allowing every child to be known, supported, and encouraged as an individual. Families who desire a safe, close-knit learning environment often find that our program feels like a natural extension of the home — where values are reinforced, relationships are strong, and children are guided with care and consistency.
Small by Design. Strong in Values.
In our classrooms, faith and character are woven into daily life. Parents can feel confident that what their children are learning aligns with the Christian values being taught at home. With small class sizes and personalized attention, students receive both the structure and flexibility they need to grow academically and personally in a secure, nurturing setting.
